Job Role
This role requires a dynamic professional who can serve as an academic advisor and emotional support system for students, while also promoting a healthy, inclusive, and achievement-oriented learning environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To provide a high-quality counselling service to students experiencing a wide range of academic and emotional problems, making available group counselling sessions tailored to assist the student’s academic and vocational development.
Develop and implement an all-encompassing educational and counselling plan with modern methods of teaching and mentoring.
Periodic evaluation and assessment of current student counselling programs and review to develop critical areas requiring development.
Actively involved in scheduling and supervising of learning support programs, such as achiever’s class.
Evaluate students’ attributes and assist them in realizing their objectives.
Develop and implement counseling strategies with contemporary methods of learning.
Identify behavioural problems and act appropriately to remedy the situation.
Study and understand societal and cultural differences in students and demonstrate multicultural responsiveness in addressing such issues.
Help students develop academic plans in accordance with their skills, talents and strengths.
Assess the development of students and highlight the sense of accomplishment.
Complete evaluations, analyze results and provide purposeful feedback.
Work in partnership with parents, teachers and partners in developing strategies for assisting students with learning difficulties.
Advertise school facilities and study programs to potential students and encourage individual participation.
Provide appropriate guidelines and organize educational career pathway programmes and university/college fairs to aid student’s placement into higher institutions.
Facilitate crisis intervention, develop and facilitate prevention programmes.
Collaborate with relevant units and committee on admission drive.
Design training program for staff, students and parents as requested by the school management.
Job Specification
Minimum of B.Sc in Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field
At least 3years proven experience as a School Guidance Counselor in a reputable school.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong ethical standards and high emotional intelligence.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
Up-to-date with best practices in academic advising and student development.
Culturally responsive and inclusive in approach.
