We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Foreman with proven expertise in road construction, particularly in earthworks, asphalt paving, and alignment.
The ideal candidate will supervise and actively participate in daily site operations to ensure the project is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and participate in all aspects of road construction including earthworks, site grading, road alignment, drainage installation, and asphalt paving.
Ensure correct implementation of road alignment as per design drawings and specifications.
Oversee preparation of the roadbed, including excavation, compaction, and sub-base formation.
Manage and direct asphalt (alphat) laying operations, ensuring quality and uniformity of pavement.
Coordinate daily activities of construction crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors.
Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, identify issues, and implement solutions promptly.
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records of work progress, material usage, equipment deployment, and workforce attendance.
Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior staff and laborers.
Report regularly to Site or Project Manager on site status and any challenges faced.
Assist with resource planning and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
ND / HND.
Vocational training or certifications in civil engineering or construction management is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience as a foreman in road construction projects.
Demonstrated expertise in earthworks (cutting, filling, compaction), asphalt paving, and road alignment.
Proven ability to supervise construction crews and deliver projects on schedule and within quality standards.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications related to road construction.
Knowledgeable in operating or coordinating the use of construction machinery such as graders, bulldozers, compactors, and asphalt pavers.
Strong understanding of soil mechanics, compaction techniques, and asphalt laying processes.
