Rehabilitation Empowerment and Better Health Initiative (REBHI) is a National Non-governmental organization that aims to respond to the need of vulnerable communities through supporting self-reliant empowerment activities particularly for women and youth and other vulnerable members of the society.Position Overview
The Veterinary Officer will be responsible for providing veterinary care, promoting animal health, and supporting livestock development in the project area.
The role involves working with rural communities, collaborating with local partners, and contributing to the overall success of the project
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services:
Diagnose, treat, and manage animal diseases and illnesses in livestock.
Disease Prevention and Control:
Implement vaccination programs, manage disease outbreaks, and conduct surveillance activities.
Extension Services:
Provide technical advice and training to farmers on animal health, nutrition, breeding, and disease prevention.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Collect and analyze data on animal health, track project impact, and generate reports.
Capacity Building:
Train and supervise local veterinary counterparts.
Community Engagement:
Liaise with local leaders, farmer groups, and other stakeholders to promote animal health awareness.
Data Management:
Maintain accurate records of treatments, vaccinations, and other relevant information.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other project staff, partners, and government agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine/Animal Science.
Proven experience in rural veterinary practice.
Familiarity with common livestock diseases in the NORTH EAST region.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in local languages (Hausa, Kanuri, etc.) is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and surgery.
Knowledge of vaccination protocols and disease control strategies.
Ability to conduct and interpret laboratory tests.
Experience in training and capacity building.
Strong data collection and analysis skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
