The Technical Design Manager will oversee the design, development, and implementation of automobile components and systems. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet performance, safety, cost, and quality standards. The manager will also drive innovation in design practices, manage design teams, and ensure alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the design team in developing automotive components, systems, and assemblies.
Oversee the creation and review of CAD models, technical drawings, and design specifications.
Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Collaborate with R&D, production, quality control, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into manufacturing processes.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design engineers and technicians.
Review, approve, and optimize prototypes before production.
Manage design budgets, schedules, and resources.
Stay updated with latest automotive design trends, tools, and technologies.
Prepare and present design reports and progress updates to senior management.
Ensure continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Professional certifications in CAD/CAE design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) are an advantage.

Experience

7–10 years of proven experience in automotive design, with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
Experience in automobile manufacturing and product development processes.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of automotive systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in CAD/CAE design and simulation software.
Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
Innovative mindset with attention to detail.
