Nestlé Nigeria is currently looking to hire a Factory Sensory Specialist, whose responsibilities include to manage sensory activities, staff and facilities in the factory ensuring appropriate sensory implementation in all aspects of quality management.
A day in the life of a Sensory Specialist…
Implements the sensory programme for the factory:
Ensures that sensory evaluation for raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products in the for the factory i.e. at the sensory laboratory and inline laboratory are in alignment with the current standards or guidelines.
Ensure that all relevant and current product and packaging specifications for raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products are available during tasting sessions.
Provide a monthly report on sensory activities at the inline laboratories across the factory and share the report with QA Manager.
Conduct quarterly keeping quality tests for all products category and communicate the report to the QA CWAR office and other relevant parties such as AG and Packaging department when necessary.
Manages both consumer and trade complaints for all factory product category from reception of complaint, through investigation to providing feedback to CES.
Communicate the trend of complaint.
Organize monthly alignment meeting with CES team on total number of complaints registered.
Ensure panelists performance are monitored:
Frequently carrying out spike test.
Prepare and share the report of panelist performance to the panelists.
Keep the panelist motivated.
Organizes the recruitment and maintenance of the factory sensory panel(s):
Screening of new panelists.
Training of new panelist based on product category and product specifications.
Training of existing panelist on newly introduced products.
Provide support for other functions such as Application Group and Packaging:
Organize triangle and profiling test and share the report in decision making.
Organize test for packaging trial and provide the report to support in decision making.
Manage market scenario samples and share the report.
What Will Make You Successful?
HND / B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related Science Courses.
Minimum 3 years post NYSC experience in the same field
Basic scientific and statistical knowledge
Demonstrated competence in a similar field.
Working knowledge of sensory methodologies (i.e. different testing and test for QA)
Working knowledge of computers; ideally, knowledge of dedicated software for sensory data acquisition.
