The Bible Society of Nigeria was founded on 8th February, 1966 through the pioneering efforts of the late Dr. Francis Ezeogo Akanu Ibiam, the first indigenous Governor of the defunct Eastern Region. Earlier in February, 1965 Dr. Ibiam had initiated a consultation with representatives of most of the Churches [Church organizations] in Nigeria on the need to form a national Bible Society in Nigeria. It was the unanimous decision of that meeting that The Bible Society of Nigeria be formed which consequently led to its formation and inauguration on February 8, 1966.
Before 1966, The Society was under the supervision of the British and Foreign Bible Society [BFBS] which had operated in Nigeria as far back as 1807. Then the Bible House, Apapa was serving as a distribution centre to other neighbouring West African countries.Role Summary
The Head of Operations (HOP) co-ordinates the activities of the Ibadan Bible Guest House Research & Development Centre (IBGHRDC). S/he sees to the effective and strategic management, marketing, and upward growth of the BGHRDC.
S/he sees to the effective management and motivation of the staff towards improved productivity, excellent service delivery and value contribution.
S/he ensures aggressive marketing of the organisation towards achieving a quantum leap in both patronage and revenue generation. S/he shall be accountable for planning, budgeting, financial management, and directs the IBGHRDC operations.
Responsible to and Direct Reports:
Responsible to the Director of Operations of the BGHRDC and shall have the head of the departments of IBGHRDC as his/her direct reports for effective management, business decisions and productive running of the IBGHRDC’s operations.
Role Relationship:
The HOP shall relate from time to time with the relevant stakeholders within and outside the organisation on matters relating to the management of the IBGHRDC.
Personnel Specifications
A Higher National Diploma or First Degree in Catering & Hotel Management or related discipline is a must.
Minimum of 7 years cognate experience in renowned Christian guest house management
A Master’s Degree in either Business Administration, or a member of relevant professional bodies would be of advantage.
The suitable person must have an excellent knowledge of hospital industry and management, strong leadership and communication skills, aggressive and strategic marketing drive, strong analytical mind, and logistical planning skills, possess financial acumen, and social skills with ability to balance customer and business priorities. Must possess among others.
