Fund 2025/2026 Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship.

Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Bank of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund announces ten (10) fully funded scholarship opportunities for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The Fund was established by the Bank of Tanzania on 12th October 2009 in commemorating thegreat achievements of the Father of our Nation Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. It is primarily dedicated for sponsoring undergraduate female students with outstanding academic achievement to pursue Science and Mathematics studies in Tanzanian accredited universities with the aim of promoting academic excellence of the students in the respective fields.

The Fund also sponsors male and female Tanzanians to pursue undergraduate studies in thefields of Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance. Inaddition, the Fund sponsors both male and female best Tanzanians undergraduate students toundertake master’s degree programmes in the afore-mentioned fields of study.The Scholarships are granted on academic merit and based on a rigorous selection process.Successful applicants are granted full scholarship which covers all university direct cost (tuitionfees etc.) and student direct costs (meal, accommodation, book and stationery allowance, fieldpractical training, special faculty requirements etc.) as specified in the respective institutions’ cost structure including a brand-new laptop computer.

The scholarships are awarded as follows:

Seven (7)Scholarships Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree Programmes)

The Undergraduate Scholarships are granted to top performers in the Advanced Certificate ofSecondary Education Examinations (ACSEE) to pursue undergraduate degree programmesin two categories as follows:CategoryA: Science and MathematicsStudies (Female Students only);andCategory B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology,Economics,Accounting andFinance Studies (Male and Female Students).Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students only)Applications for Scholarships under this category are for female candidates only andapplicants shall be required to meet the following criteria:a) Applicant must be a female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced LevelSecondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2025.b) Applicant must be a female student with outstanding academic achievement (DivisionOne) at ACSEE in Science or Mathematics subjects in the 2025 Advanced LevelSecondary School Education Examinations; andc) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree programme inan accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme shouldcommence in 2025/2026 academic year in the field of Science or Mathematics.Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics, Accounting and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)Applications for Scholarships under this category are open to both male and female studentsand shall be required to meet the following criteria:a) Applicant must be a male or female Tanzanian citizen who has completed AdvancedLevel Secondary School Education in 2025.b) Applicant must be a student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at2025 ACSEE in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Accounting subjectsin the Advanced Level Secondary School Examinations.c) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree programme in anaccredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme shouldcommence in 2025/2026 academic year in any of the following fields: Science,Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.

Master’s Degree Programmes (Three Scholarships)The master’s degree Scholarships are open to both female and male best students who are to enroll in master’s degree programmes in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Economics,Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.Requirements:a) Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen and must not be more than thirty-five years.(35) of age.b) Applicant must have obtained First Class or Upper Second Class (honors) in thebachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) score of 4.0 from anaccredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.c) Applicant should have completed bachelor’s degree in studies related to Science,Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.d) Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time master’s degree programme in anaccredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme shouldcommence in 2025/2026 academic year in any of the following fields: Science,Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.Applications are invited from qualifiedcandidates.

Method of Application

Applicants are required to complete Scholarship Application Forms which can be accessed on the BOT website: www.bot.go.tz.

Printed forms can be obtained from the Fund Administrator, Bank of Tanzania Sub Head Office,2 Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM. The forms can also be obtained at the Bank ofTanzania Head Office, Dodoma, and Branch Offices (Arusha, Zanzibar, Mwanza, Mbeya andMtwara).All application forms should be completed, scanned, and submitted online to the Chairperson,Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund, Bank of Tanzania Sub-Head Office, 2Mirambo Street, 11884, DAR ES SALAAM by 22nd August 2025 (17:00hrs) through the followingemail addresses:
