As a Risk Officer, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with our lending activities.
You will play a key role in safeguarding the company’s loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and promoting a risk-aware culture.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct risk assessments on loan applications and recommend approvals or rejections based on creditworthiness.
Monitor the loan portfolio to detect early warning signs of default or exposure.
Develop and implement risk control frameworks, credit policies, and internal procedures.
Analyze borrower behavior, repayment trends, and high-risk segments to guide credit strategies.
Investigate and prevent fraud by validating borrower documentation and transactions.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including KYC, AML, and credit bureau reporting.
Collaborate with recovery and collections teams to assess and manage delinquent accounts.
Liaise with sales and field agents to ensure adherence to credit risk standards.
Maintain accurate records and prepare regular risk reports for management.
Lead or participate in risk training programs for internal teams.
Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and responsible lending practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in a credit risk or lending operations role, preferably in microfinance, fintech, or banking.
Sound understanding of credit analysis, risk controls, and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools; experience with loan management software is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certification in Risk Management or Credit Analysis (e.g., CRM, FRM) is an advantage.
