A cocktail bartender isresponsible for crafting and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, while also providing excellent customer service.
They must be knowledgeable about drink recipes, ingredients, and mixology techniques.In addition to serving drinks, they maintain a clean and organized bar area, handle transactions, manage inventory, and may contribute to menu development.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation:
Mixing and serving a variety of drinks, including classic cocktails, signature creations, and customized orders.
Understanding and utilizing different mixing techniques, such as shaking, stirring, and building cocktails.
Knowing the ingredients and proportions for various drinks, and making substitutions when necessary.
Preparing garnishes and ensuring the bar is stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies.
Customer Service:
Interacting with customers, taking orders, and providing recommendations based on their preferences.
Creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere at the bar.
Handling customer complaints and resolving issues effectively.
Ensuring a high standard of customer satisfaction.
Bar Operations:
Maintaining a clean and organized bar area, including washing glassware, wiping down surfaces, and restocking supplies.
Handling cash and credit card transactions accurately and responsibly.
Monitoring and managing inventory levels, placing orders as needed.
Adhering to all relevant food and beverage regulations and safety standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
Collaborating with other staff members, including servers and kitchen staff, to ensure smooth service.
May assist with training new bartenders or bar staff.
Contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Skills and Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess an HND / BSc Degree with 4 – 6 years work experience.
Mixology Expertise: A strong understanding of drink recipes, ingredients, and techniques.
Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Cash Handling: Accuracy in handling transactions and balancing the cash register.
Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with food and beverage safety standards and liquor laws.
Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for extended periods and handle physical demands of the job.
