Dangote Cement Plc is in search of a Head of Mines to lead its mining operations. . The Head of Mines will manage all facets of mining operations, including safety, exploration, production, and logistics, to ensure that objectives are achieved effectively and economically. Moreover, the ideal candidate will be tasked with supervising a substantial team of mining experts while promoting a culture centered on safety, innovation, and ongoing improvement.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement short and long-term mining strategies aligned with the overall business objectives
Oversee the exploration, development, and production of mining operations across the company’s various sites and ensure that targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget
Establish and manage productive relationships with stakeholders, including regulators, contractors, and local communities to ensure the smooth operation of mining activities
Develop and implement stringent safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure the safety of all employees and compliance with regulatory requirements
Implement robust systems and procedures for inventory management, supply chain management, and logistics to ensure timely and efficient delivery of mined materials
Manage a large and diverse team of mining professionals and provide mentoring, coaching, and training to ensure their continued growth and development
Provide regular reports to senior management on mining operations performance, issues, and opportunities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Geology Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role
Extensive knowledge of mining operations, including exploration, production, and logistics
Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate diverse teams
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex mining strategies and plans
Knowledge of mining regulations and best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
