We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking legal executive to serve in the Legal team.
This dual-function leadership role is responsible for providing legal guidance, corporate governance oversight, and regulatory leadership across our group.
The ideal candidate should be a seasoned legal strategist with deep expertise in commercial law, board administration, risk management, and compliance.
The ideal candidate with the supervision of the Head of Legal Department is responsible for providing legal support and advice to the company.
He/she shall monitor and advise on all legal matters, commercial contractsand agreements.
The candidate shall ensure the company complies with all statutory and corporate governancepractices and guidelines observed in the financial industry.
Responsibilities
Define and execute the company’s legal strategy in alignment with business objectives.
Lead all legal matters, including commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment law, dispute resolution, and litigation management.
Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments that impact the business.
Manage legal and compliance risks proactively across the enterprise.
Engage with external counsel, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure the company’s legal and regulatory interests are protected.
Act as Company Secretary and trusted advisor to the Board and its Committees.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and governance obligations across the company businesses.
Facilitate effective board meetings, minutes, filings, and communication in line with global governance best practices.
Requirements
LLB and BL required; must be qualified to practice law in Nigeria.
Postgraduate degree (LLM or MBA) or ICSA certification is a strong advantage.
Minimum 6 – 8 years of legal practice experience,
Demonstrated expertise in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Sound judgment and discretion
Good understanding of general and specific company and commercial law
Proven knowledge of litigation.

Deep understanding of corporate governance, board processes, and compliance to regulatory frameworks.
Excellent negotiation, drafting report, good researcher and good knowledge of litigation.
High ethical standards, integrity, and confidentiality.
Knowledge of Company Secretary responsibilitieswill also be an added advantage
Effective communicator, able to operate confidently at board and regulatory levels.
