The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the credit and lending process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigating risks associated with mortgage lending operations. With a focus on strategic planning and operational excellence, the Credit Manager will enhance the bank’s credit portfolio while maintaining a strong risk control framework.
Credit Risk Management
Assess, monitor, and manage credit risks across the mortgage portfolio to ensure alignment with the bank’s risk tolerance.
Develop and implement credit risk policies and procedures tailored to mortgage banking operations.
Perform in-depth credit analysis for loan applications, ensuring thorough evaluation of borrowers’ financial standing, creditworthiness, and collateral adequacy.
Credit Approval Process
Oversee the end-to-end credit approval process, including the evaluation and recommendation of mortgage loan applications.
Establish credit limits for clients in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Portfolio Management
Regularly review and analyze the bank’s mortgage loan portfolio to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure timely reporting of credit portfolio performance and risk exposure to senior management.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including mortgage lending laws and guidelines.
Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies to address any credit-related concerns.
Leadership and Collaboration
Lead a team of credit officers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Risk, Legal, and Operations teams, to optimize credit processes and maintain high standards of service delivery.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Masters degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, or PRM) is an added advantage.
10–15 years of proven experience in credit management and risk management, with a focus on mortgage banking or related financial services.
Strong understanding of mortgage lending processes, housing finance, and regulatory frameworks governing the mortgage banking industry.
Proficiency in financial modeling, credit analysis tools, and risk assessment software.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
