The Medical Officer is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients in accordance with established medical protocols.
The role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and ensures clinical excellence while collaborating effectively with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Provide medical consultation, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Attend to emergency cases promptly and provide necessary interventions.
Document all clinical encounters comprehensively in patient records.
Prescribe medications appropriately and monitor patient response to treatment.
Refer patients to specialists when necessary and ensure continuity of care.
Patient Care & Safety:
Uphold patient dignity, confidentiality, and rights at all times.
Participate in ward rounds, case reviews, and discharge planning.
Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols.
Ensure prompt response to patient concerns and emergencies.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work collaboratively with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other members of the care team.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and trainings.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Comply with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and standard operating procedures.
Submit daily, weekly, or monthly activity reports as required.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Ethical & Professional Conduct:
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and ethical behavior at all times.
Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and professional development.
Maintain valid medical licenses and certifications as required by regulatory bodies.
