The Finance Controller will oversee the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
This role also ensures the accuracy of the company’s financial results and ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards (IFRS).

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

Oversee the financial operations of the company.
Maintain accurate and complete financial records.
Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements.
Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.

Financial Reporting:

Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.
Report to management on variances from the established budget and the reasons for those variances.
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

Internal Controls:

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial data.
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Lead the budgeting and forecasting process.
Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning.
Analyze financial data and create financial reports and statements.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Keep up to date with changes in financial regulations and legislation.

Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor the accounting team.
Assist in the recruitment and training of new finance staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Strategic Planning:

Participate in the development of the company’s strategic plans.
Provide financial input and advice on the company’s strategic decisions.

Qualifications

ICAN
Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with creating financial statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
